Electric Cars

The idea and research of electric cars began back in the 1960’s.[5] During the 1980’s and 1990’s the demand for oil and gas increased in the United States causing more of a dependency on gas. By the year 2000 electric cars were on the market. The advantages to getting an electric car are they greatly reduce the amount of gas used while driving, they save people money by getting down the gas bill, and they produce less pollution. The newest addition to electric cars is hybrid cars. Hybrid cars use a gas burning engine with an electric engine. This is good because not only can cars have enough horsepower to go as fast as regular cars but they also save the world’s ozone layer and money by burning less gas and releasing fewer emissions.[6]
